Each week on the podcast, the team peels back the layers on a movie genre or industry trend to offer aspiring filmmakers some clarity and guidance on what is often rough and indecipherable terrain that is the film and television industry. So, grab a deep brew for a deep look and some hilarious moments.

Are Terminator, Project Hail Mary, and Spider-Man really sci-fi movies?
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
The science fiction genre began in the early twentieth century with movies about space and the common element of showing us what the future could look like. So, have contemporary films like The Substance, Ex-Machina those in the Terminator and X-Men franchises strayed too far from the essence of science fiction cinema? Or has the meaning of science fiction just changed (or maybe evolved) over the last twenty or so years? Join us on this episode of the Cup of Tea Critiques Podcast while we debate, cajole, and – how can I put it - vehemently defend our differing stances on this question about the direction of this cinematic category.
Send us a comment to let us know your sci-fi movie and weigh in on your definition of the genre.
